What is Patient Care Technician?
Patient Care Technicians are versatile members of the healthcare team and work under the supervision of physicians or registered nurses to provide direct patient care in a variety of medical settings.
Patient Techs monitor patients for signs and adverse reactions to medications and treatments, obtain specimens, and create and document medical records. They perform basic physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and occupational therapy and provide post surgical, rehabilitative and restorative assistance. Patient Care Technicians function as care giver to the ill, the injured and the infirm often providing more patient contact that any other member of the team.
